Skylar McArthur

HIGH POINT, N.C. — High Point University Women's Lacrosse Head Coach Lyndsey Boswell announced the hiring of Skylar McArthur as an assistant coach in August 2023. The former Canisius College student-athlete and Team Canada member will work with the defense and goalies.

"I am very excited to join the HPU Women's Lacrosse program," McArthur said, "and to pass along my knowledge and passion for the game of lacrosse that I have gained from playing at the NCAA and international level with Team Canada. The foundation and culture that has been established here is so special and I can't wait to get onto campus and begin my coaching career as a Panther."

In five seasons at Canisius, McArthur played each season while starting every game (32) as a senior and fifth-year player. She capped her final season with back-to-back 50-point campaigns and secured 100 career points and goals. McArthur, the Peterborough, Ontario native, repped the Golden Griffins at the IWLCA Senior All-Star Game after leading her team in points (50), goals (45) and draw controls (50). She notched a single-game, career-high seven goals against Iona on April 1, 2023.

"I'm so excited to welcome Skylar to our High Point family," Boswell said. "She will work with our defense, goalies and share her expertise and student-athlete experience. I'm confident that Skylar is committed to our vision and will work alongside of Hannah Wszalek and I to instill lifelong and memorable experiences in our players."

McArthur, a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference two-time First Team midfielder and three-time MAAC All-Academic team member, was a standout on and off the field.

She had the privilege of playing with Team Canada on multiple occasions, beginning in 2019 when she competed in the Under-19 World Lacrosse Championship and helped Team Canada capture a silver medal on home soil. In October of 2022, she appeared with Team Canada at the World Lacrosse Sixes friendly invitational event. To this day, McArthur still has opportunities to compete with Team Canada.

McArthur graduated from Canisius in 2023 with her Bachelor of Science in Health and Wellness with minors in psychology and strength and conditioning. She is currently working towards her Master in Physical Education and now resides in High Point, N.C.
