Joe Templin was named an Assistant Director of Athletic Communications in October 2019, serving as the primary contact for the Panthers' women's basketball, volleyball, baseball, and the men's and women's golf teams while sharing the duties of women's lacrosse.

In his first year with HPU, Templin oversaw the nomination of three of High Point's four Big South Scholar-Athlete of the Year award winners to help the Panthers tie with Campbell for the most in the conference during the 2019-20 academic year. He also saw two student-athletes earn national academic recognition, with Camryn Brown earning CoSIDA Academic All-America Third Team honors and Abby Bottomley of the volleyball team named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team. Templin's game notes for the High Point baseball team were named 'Best in the Nation' for NCAA D1 spring sports during the 2019-20 academic year in the annual CoSIDA Publication and Design Contest.
Templin comes to High Point University after a two-month stint as a Media Relations Assistant at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. With the 49ers he was the primary contact for the cross country, track and field, and softball teams, while also running the football team's twitter account during home games.

Prior to moving to the Tar Heel State, Templin was the Assistant Sports Information Director at Adrian College in his home state of Michigan. Templin was the primary contact for 25 varsity and club sports while at Adrian and was the lead graphic designer for the department and tasked with creating the department's social media policy. Templin oversaw the communication efforts for two NCAA Tournament teams for the Bulldogs, including the women's soccer team's first trip to the postseason and the women's hockey team's second-best finish in program history. He also helped both soccer programs have a player receive CoSIDA Academic All-American citations for the first time in school history.

A graduate of the University of Michigan, Templin earned his Bachelor of Arts in Sport Management in April 2018. While at Michigan he served as a communications intern for the Wolverines' men's ice hockey and men's tennis programs. Templin also did communications work for his high school hockey team while he was in college, writing stories to be published in the local paper.
Templin is a native of Big Rapids, Mich. and currently resides in Concord.
