Michael Chesler was hired as an assistant coach in January of 2016.
Chesler returns to High Point after graduating from the university in the fall of 2011 with a degree in Business Administration. He was a four-year starter and a three-year captain with the Panthers. In 2010, Chesler was named first-team All-Big South after going 16-4-1 with a 0.89 goals-against average as HPU claimed its first and only Big South Regular Season Championship. He finished his Panther career with a 43-26-9 record, a 1.19 goals-against average and 20 shutouts, all HPU Div. I career records at the time.
Last season, Chesler served as an assistant coach/goalkeeper coach at Utah Valley University. He helped guide the second-year program to a 14-6-2 overall record and its first-ever NCAA tournament appearance. Under his guidance the Utah Valley goalkeepers combined for a 0.92 goals-against average, a .724 save percentage and eight shutouts. Along with his work at Utah Valley, Chesler also served as the Technical Director for Utah FC, a youth soccer organization, and as a staff coach with the Utah Olympic Development Program.
Chesler holds a USSF National "C" Coaching License and a NSCAA Goalkeeping Level 3 Diploma.Â
