15260Ron Garling is entering his third season as an assistant coach with the High Point University men's lacrosse team.
 
The Panthers went 10-7 and earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament with a 9-8 win in double overtime over Richmond in the SoCon title game. Garling worked with face-off specialist Jamie Piluso who earned first-team all-SoCon honors with a .554 winning percentage. Garling also helped the Panthers 24 man-up goals in 57 opportunities to tie for 17th nationally with a .421 man-up percentage. HPU’s man-up attack improved by nearly .200 as Canadians Dan Lomas and Connor Robinson combined for 15 of the team’s 24 man-up scores.
 
In 2014, the Purple & White went 9-7 and tied for the Atlantic Sun regular season crown. Under Garling’s tutelage, Piluso was the A-Sun’s top face-off man with a .594 winning percentage.
 
Garling helped the Panthers go 3-9 in their first season of NCAA competition. The team is 19-14 in the last two seasons including an 8-3 mark in conference play.

Garling served as the offensive coordinator for two seasons at Lafayette College. He coached two players named to the Tewaaraton watch list, which honors the best male and female collegiate lacrosse player every year. Garling also coached Lafayette’s all-time leading scorer, Tom Perini.

Prior to his time at Lafayette, Garling was the offensive coordinator for Cabrini College for one season. While with the Cavaliers he coached two All-Americans and five All-Conference players.

He has also coached the Leading Edge Club lacrosse team and Fever Lacrosse Club for the last two years.

Garling played for Drexel and was a three-year starter for the Dragons. He helped Drexel to the CAA Tournament in three of his four seasons and made it to the title game as a junior. He graduated with a degree in Sport Management in 2010.
