Alex Ready

High Point University Men's Lacrosse Head Coach John Crawley has announced the hiring of Alex Ready as an Assistant Coach and Defensive Coordinator for the men's lacrosse program in late June of 2024.

During the 2025 season, High Point went 7-9 overall and 3-2 in the league finishing as the A10 regular season runner-ups for the first time since joining the A10 in 2023. Ready was apart of the staff that guided the No. 2 seeded Panthers to the A10 Championship game for the second time after knocking off No. 3 seed Saint Joseph’s in the semifinals. Twelve Panthers earned post season honors as eight players made the A10 All-Conference selections and four players were named to the A10 All-Championship team. During the regular season, HPU defeated two ranked opponents, first on the road against No. 16 University of Massachusetts (14-9) and then at home against No. 16 Saint Joseph’s (11-9).

Ready helped guide the Panthers defense as one of the best in the league, ranking No. 1 in the A10 in ground balls per game (36.88) and caused turnovers per game (10.12). In goal, High Point ranked No. 3 in save percentage with a .526. The Panthers were led by Zack Overend in goal posting a .536 save percentage averaging 9.41 saves per game. Overend brought his goals allowed average down to an 11.14 which was the lowest average over his last three seasons. Overend set the single game record with 23 saves against Saint Joseph's (April 19, 2025) with a career-best .719 save percentage. He became the fourth player in program history to be named to the USILA Team of the Week.

Ready joined the Panthers after spending the 2023 & 2024 seasons as an assistant coach with the Duke men's lacrosse staff. The Blue Devils appeared in the NCAA Tournament in both seasons, making the Championship game against Notre Dame in 2023 and the quarterfinals against Maryland in 2024. Duke finished the 2024 season with the No. 18 ranked scoring defense in the country, holding teams to 10.42 goals per game. As a team the Blue Devils averaged 11.63 saves per game.

A former standout goaltender for the University of Denver, hailing from Lancaster, Pa., Ready was a four-year starter between the pipes for the Pioneers.

As a rookie in 2016, Ready started all 16 games for the Pioneers, posting a 13-3 overall record and a 9.00 goals against average to lead the BIG EAST and rank 16th nationally. He amassed a career-best 142 saves as a rookie to earn BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year honors.

Ready started all 17 games in 2017 as well, garnering BIG EAST second-team recognition after posting an 8.50 goals against average and a 13-4 record. In his four seasons at Denver, Ready played in 58 games with 52 starting assignments. He posted a .497 save percentage and a 8.77 goals against average, while amassing a 37-14 overall record as the backstop.

After graduating from Denver in 2019, Ready was picked up by the PLL's Chrome and played two games in the league's inaugural season.
