TJ Garske was named Assistant Athletic Director for Communications in October 2019.

In this role, Garske oversees the communications, video, social media and branding for the department. He serves as primary contact for men’s basketball, men’s soccer, and women’s golf.

Garske comes to High Point University after spending the past three years at University of Michigan as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications.

At Michigan, Garske served as the primary contact for men’s ice hockey and men’s tennis, overseeing the communication and social media efforts for the 2018 NCAA Frozen Four team, while devising the communications efforts for the retirement of legendary head coach Red Berenson.

Prior to his time in Ann Arbor, Garske spent time at Boston College where he served as primary contact for men’s ice hockey.

Garske previously served as the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Information at Fitchburg State University, where he implemented live HD video streaming for all home contests, while serving as the primary liason for all internal and external communication efforts.

Working two years at Thomas College as the Sports Information Director, Garske also served as Head Ice Hockey Coach and interim Director of Web Marketing during his time in Waterville, Maine.

A graduate of Saint Joseph’s College, Garske received a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management with a minor in Business Administration. While at Saint Joe’s, he participated for the Monks as a member of the men’s golf team for three years, men’s ice hockey team for four years, and the men’s lacrosse team for three seasons, while serving as a team captain for the golf and hockey teams his junior and senior campaigns.

Garske also earned a Master of Science in Business Management degree from Durham University (Durham, England), while winning a British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) National Championship in men’s lacrosse while also participating in American football and baseball.

Originally from Federal Way, Washington, Garske currently lives in Jamestown.
