Over the past two season with the Panthers (2023-2025), Garner has worked as a Graduate Assistant and helped High Point compile and overall record of 56-15 with a 27-5 Big South record. He helped the staff lead HPu to its first ever-NCAA tournament appearance as the No. 13 seed and matched up against No. 4 seed Purdue. He helped the staff turn around an under .500 program and guided the Panthers to back-to-back outright Big South Regular Season titles for the first time in program history. High Point became the first team in the Big South since 2011 (Coastal Carolina) to win back-to-back outright regular season titles.
HPU finished with an overall record of 29-6 during the 2024-25 season, which tied for the most wins in Big South program history (Winthrop, 2006-07) and the most wins in HPU program history. The Panthers finished the regular season with a 26-5 record and a 14-2 league record. The 26 regular-season wins is the most in program history and tied the Big South regular-season wins record with Coastal Carolina's 2010-11 season (26-4). The Panthers also set the best win percentage in Division I era with an 88-percent win percentage in conference play and an 84-percentage win percentage in the regular season.
Garner ended his college basketball playing career at LeMoyne College recording almost 900 points and over 200 rebounds while dishing out 300 assists. He also played at Saginaw Valley State University. Garner was a part of three conference titles including winning back-to-back conference titles at Le Moyne College. Over his four years he made three NCAA tournament appearances and one Elite 8 appearance. His senior year Garner did not have the opportunity to finish competition in the NCAA tourney due to Covid-19.
A 2014 High School graduate, Garner spent the first three seasons of high school at Herbert Henry Dow High School where he played for head coach Dave McDonald & Marshall Gray. Garner received 1st Team All-Saginaw Valley as a junior, averaging 14 points, four assists and four rebounds per game. For Garner’s final season of high school, he prepped at Citrus Park Academy in Tampa, Florida. There he average 19 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds per game. Garner decided to take a Post Grad year at Sunrise Christian Academy in Wichita, Kansas playing for Coach Luke Barnwell. Sunrise Christian Academy was ranked top 10 in the country for Post Grad programs. He was a full time starter playing alongside seven Division I signees.
