High Point University Athletics

Derene joined High Point in July of 2023 as the Associate Director of Athletic Communications. He serves as the main contact for women's soccer, women's basketball, baseball and rowing

Derene graduated from the University of New Hampshire where he studied Sport Management with a minor in Communications. At UNH, he interned under athletic communications for three years as a media and communications intern. During those three years working with athletics, he worked with almost all the Division I teams helping produce web content across various platforms. He was also responsible for in-game graphics, stats, all social media updates, and live look-ins.

During the summer of 2022, Derene interned with the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers minor league baseball team as a general intern. That summer was full of different tasks and responsibilities but he was able to get a taste of small market baseball while learning how much goes into a minor league baseball game.
