Shelton Gaffney joined the High Point University strength and conditioning staff in February 2017.
Gaffney comes to High Point after spending a year as a Sports Performance Coach at Velocity Sports Performance in Spartanburg, S.C. Similarly, he has five seasons of strength and conditioning experience in collegiate athletics.
Prior to his time at Velocity Sports Performance, Gaffney spent two seasons as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Temple University football team. Before that, he worked at Johnny Long's Training Academy where he trained high school athletes as well as former collegiate players preparing for the NFL Draft.
While working on his master's degree in Kinesiology at Tennessee, Gaffney worked with the UT football and men's and women's track and field teams. He also interned with Tennessee during the summer of 2007 after graduating from Western Carolina in 2007 with a degree in sports management.
