High Point University Athletics

SENIOR (2026): Played in three games over the course of the 2026 campaign, making two plate appearances … saw action in one Big South Conference game along the way … made his season debut as a pinch hitter at Liberty (Feb. 25) … had one putout as catcher against Liberty (March 3) … had his final appearance of the season at Charleston Southern (April 18), making one at bat along the way. 

JUNIOR (2025): Played in 11 games, making one start ... drove in one run on nine plate appearances... drew four walks and one hit-by-pitch ... held a 1.000 fielding percentage during his time behind the dish. 

SOPHOMORE (2024): Played in 13 games, making two starts behind the plate ... had a .357 batting average with 14 at-bats ... hit one home run and drove in five runners ... had three RBI against RIchmond (3/23) off a three-run homer ... went 2-for-2 at Gardner-Webb (5/18) ... tallied seven put-outs and caught two runners stealing against Elon (5/7). 

FRESHMAN (2023): Appeared in eight games, starting two behind the plate ... recorded a season high nine putouts behind the dish at Longwood (4/1) and then against UNC Greensboro (4/4). 

PREP: Born on September 19, 2002 ... son of Matthew and Anna Martinez ... has four siblings, Katherine, Peter, Anthony, Michael ... father, Matthew played baseball at Longwood from 1992-1993 before transferring to Wright State to play from 1994-1996 ... played baseball at Bethlehem Catholic all four years... played basketball for one season in 2018... also played a post grad year with the P27 Baseball Academy in 2022... Matthew was a 2x first team All-Conference player in 2019 & 2021... a 2x first team All-Conference player in 2019 & 2021... a 2x varsity team captain from 2020-2021... was apart of the 2021 District 11 Championship for baseball... made the PA 4A state tournament appearance in 2021... he was the Co-Head of The Movement Fundraising Club... a Hawk Ambassador and a member of the Student-Athlete Character Council... he also played club for Stars Baseball (2017-20), Zone Platinum (2017-19) and the East Coast Lumberjacks (2020-21).
