Men’s Cross Country Finishes Fourth at NC State Adidas XC Challenge

CARY, N.C. – The High Point University men's cross country team competed in the NC State Adidas XC Challenge on Friday evening at WakeMed Soccer Park and finished fourth as a team. Avery Crowell paced the Panthers with a top-10 finish of 18:03.4, where he took eighth place in the 6k.

Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Remy Tamer: "First race with most of the squad present and it was a mixed bag. We clearly have plenty to work on as a team. Avery ran a strong race up front and showed he wants to be a serious contender. Blake Nicholson methodically made his way through the field and finished a respectable second for the squad. The rest of the guys really missed a great opportunity to run as a group and turn in a solid team performance. We will be spending the next 6 weeks elevating our standards and becoming better teammates. Looking forward to see how these men respond."

Blake Nicholson was next to finish for HPU with a time of 18:27.0 taking 14th place. Next to finish was Simon Triezenberg who crossed the line at 18:47.1, Gitch Hayes followed with a time of 18:48.7, while Gavin Stevens was right next to him finishing at the 18:48.9 minute mark.

To complete the 12 man running group for High Point was Max Bonilla, Brayden Davis, Clark LaLomia, Alex Contreras, Will Katic, Greg Abel and Jimmy Mullarkey.

The Panthers finished with 111 team points, which was only one point behind Liberty.

Jackson Keefer and Bence Acsadi did not run for HPU.

Up Next: High Point will return to action heading to Richmond University on Friday, October 2 at the Richmond Invitational in Richmond, Virginia.
