DAVIDSON, N.C. – The High Point University men's soccer team closed out its three-game road trip on a high note Tuesday night, earning a 1-0 shutout victory at Davidson College.
The victory snapped Davidson's 11-game unbeaten streak at home, dating back to Sept. 20, 2025, while improving the Panthers' all-time Division I record against the Wildcats to 5-3-4.
Prosper Adagani scored the game-winning goal in the final non-conference road clash, netting his third goal of the season in the 59th minute. After
Noah Behrmann made a crucial defensive stop, he transitioned the ball upfield and set up Adagani, who finished the attack to give HPU the 1-0 advantage for good.

Head Coach Zach Haines: "We challenged the guys a lot over the last week, and the response tonight was fantastic. Davidson is such a difficult team to play against, and they make you earn everything, especially on their field. And so, tonight, I think we fully deserve the result, because we were up for it from the very beginning, and the guys really applied everything that we've been talking about, just in terms of being more together and tougher, across the board in every phase of the game."
It was a fairly quiet start for the Panthers, but they knocked on the door with their best opportunity in the 28th minute.
Roman Holt powered the offense upfield before ripping a strike toward goal from well outside the penalty area. Davidson's goalkeeper got his fingertips on the shot to make the save, setting up HPU's third corner kick of the match.
The Panthers' defensive effort was tremendous, holding Davidson without a shot until the 41st minute. On that attempt,
Josh Caron kept the Wildcats off the scoreboard with an incredible diving save on a Davidson free kick.
At the end of the first half, the game remained scoreless. The Panthers recorded three shots, one attempt at goal and three corner kicks, while Caron registered two saves.
HPU nearly ended the scoreless drought in the 53rd minute.
Aidan Morrison put
Enzo Rekka in a great position with a ball through the gap, as Rekka took a shot at goal, ricocheting off the goalkeeper to
Nick Sarantakos, whose second-chance effort was also saved by Davidson.
A tremendous defensive stop from
Noah Behrmann on a Davidson corner kick sparked a counterattack for the Panthers, eventually creating a two-on-one opportunity involving
Noah Behrmann and Adagani.
Noah Behrmann unselfishly played the ball across to Adagani, who tapped it into the back of the net. The goal was initially ruled offside, but following video review, the officials overturned the call, giving HPU the first goal of the match in the 59th minute.
"It was honestly great work by the referee because the AR put his flag up, but the ref saw that it was tight, and he let it play through, as you're supposed to do," Haines said. "It was an outstanding goal, and, obviously, it was the right call. I thought we earned that goal based on our overall play and the attacking threat that we carried."
The goal marked Adagani's third score of the season and his first in three matches.
Coming into the match, HPU was 59-1-6 when scoring first under head coach
Zach Haines, with the Panthers' only loss coming in the season opener against NC State two years ago.
Roman Holt made a goal-saving play in the 63rd minute after putting his body in front of the Davidson shot opportunity to deflect the ball away from goal. Less than a minute later, Davidson sent a cross into the HPU penalty area, but Caron came up with another crucial save to prevent an equalizer opportunity.
In the final 11 minutes, Caron made two top-notch saves to keep the Wildcats scoreless. In the 79th minute, Caron tallied his fourth save of the game after making another diving effort to deflect the ball away from the goal, and in the 84th minute, a Davidson header was corralled by Caron.
The Panthers were able to stay strong in the final six minutes, winning 1-0 for HPU's first shutout victory of the season.
HPU totaled 12 shots, six attempts on goal and three corner kicks, while Caron registered his first clean sheet of the season after finishing with five saves and 14 shots faced.
