High Point Finishes Runner-Up at Augusta Invitational

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The High Point University men's golf team competed in its first fall tournament of the 2026-27 season at the Augusta Invitational, hosted by Augusta University. After playing three solid rounds at the Forest Hills Gold Club over the course of two days, the Panthers finished runner-up with a team score 12-under-par 852. The 852 team score for a three round tournament sits 11th all-time in program history.

High point had two student-athletes place in the top five overall as Jace Duckworth finished as the tournament runner-up in his HPU debut with a 7-under-209 score. James Hassel finished tied in fourth with a 4-under-212 score while Tommy Evans placed just outside the top-10 in 12th with a 2-under-par 214 in his High Point debut. Tully Super and Sean Shallat both placed 24th with a 4-over-par 220 score. Savar Bhasin traveled with the team and competed as an individual for the Panthers.

"It was a great tournament to start the season off for the team!," Head Coach Logan Davis stated. "We did a ton of things right on the course this week. The course was set up for discipline golf and we did that very well. Every guy played a great tournament, Jace placing 3rd, James placing T-4 and Tommy placing T12 is very impressive. The team came out in the practice round and we got a great game plan during it, heading into the tournament, they all stuck with the game plan and their processes. I'm really proud of how everyone played this week and we are going to use it as momentum heading into the bulk of the fall season!"
