FRIPP ISLAND, S.C. — The High Point University men's golf team reached match play of the 2026 Big South Men's Golf Championship as the No. 4 seed, but was edged, 3-2, by top-seeded Presbyterian College Wednesday morning to conclude the Panthers' season.
Head Coach Logan Davis: "Proud is an understatement. These guys pushed themselves harder than I've ever seen them push themselves this entire year, at the end of the spring. Not the outcome we wanted, but the fight in the entire team never stopped the entire round. We played really solid golf all day today. Presbyterian just played a little bit better, to have Sean [Shallat] and Shlok [Jain] go out early and secure their point was huge coming down the stretch. That gave Carter [Pitcairn], Burch [Harrison] and James [Hassell] positive energy to get their matches back. All of them being 3 down and making it to 17 and 18 shows just how much this team wanted to win. They have nothing to hang their heads about, they should be proud of themselves for the work they put in leading up into conference and working as hard as they can to get the win. Again, I'm super proud of this team and there is a bright future for High Point Men's Golf."

How It Happened
In the first match, Sean Shallat won 3&1, where he recorded five birdies, winning his match on the 17th hole. The second match that concluded was won by Shlok Jain, who played a consistent round, shooting par 12 times, also winning on the 17th hole (2&1).
Carter Pitcairn had a hard-fought round that came down nearly to the end (3&1). The redshirt senior recorded four birdies. James Hassell shot par nine times and recorded an eagle on the fourth hole, falling 2&1. The final round to conclude saw senior Burch Harrison play a very consistent round, fighting his way back, but falling just short on a final putt by Presbyterian on the 18 green. Harrison finished the round with six birdies.
