HIGH POINT, N.C. – For the tenth consecutive week, the High Point University women's basketball team is ranked in the CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid-Major Top 25, rising to No. 5 with 568 points. This marks the highest ranking in program and Big South Conference history. The poll is voted on by mid-major women's basketball coaches and was announced on Tuesday evening.
High Point has reached back-to-back-to-back 20-win seasons with a current 20-2 record, and a perfect 9-0 in conference play. Averaging 76.3 points per game while shooting 46 percent from the field and holding opponents to just 57.5 points per contest. HPU leads the Big South in field goal percentage at 46 percent, while limiting the opponent to only 36 percent.
HPU's success stems from contributions up and down the roster and has been powered by several standout performances.
Junior guard Macy Spencer has broken out as one of the nation's top shooters and currently ranks T-5 in the NCAA in three-pointers made (68), while also leading the Big South in triples made and in points per game with 18.9. As a team, the Panthers rank 26th nationally in field goal percentage, and seventh in winning percentage (90.9)
Graduate student Aaliyah Collins has also been a major key to High Point's success, averaging 14.4 points per game. She is second in the Big South with 89 assists, and leads the conference with a .506 field goal percentage. Nevaeh Zavala, Peyton Gerdes, Anna Hager, Brecken Snotherly, and Dom Nesland have also contributed in multiple ways to help the Panthers continue their remarkable season.
