HIGH POINT N.C. — The High Point University women's lacrosse team capped a three-game homestand on Saturday morning, where they held 11th-ranked Navy to just a pair of second-half goals but ultimately fell, 14-6.

Head Coach Lyndsey Boswell: "I'm proud of our second-half efforts and execution. We've learned a lot about who we are as a team in these first three games, and I'm hopeful once things come together for both sides of the field at the same time, great results will show up for us."
Trailing at the half, High Point adjusted and outscored Navy, 3-2, over the final 30 minutes. The Panthers scored three straight in the fourth quarter as
Shannon Smith and
Kate Prentice netted their second straight multi-goal games; meanwhile,
Sarah Johnson scored her first this season in the final minute.
Lily Trout registered her second game with a goal scored.
HPU forced five third-quarter turnovers and held the Midshipmen to two goals in that period while shutting out the visiting team in the last quarter of play.
Bella Germani led the way, picking up a career-high six ground balls and causing two turnovers with
Haley Urban forcing three caused turnovers and Syndey Martin knocking out two more.
The Panthers were active as seven players had two or more ground balls with Martin's three following the team-leading six of Germani.
Laney Schmith earned her first-ever assist and multi-assist game with two total. Additionally,
Caitlyn Baehr had two ground balls and a caused turnover alike
Julia Dustin. In the cage,
Ava Welsh made 10 saves — with four in the first quarter for the second game in a row — and picked up two ground balls and forced a turnover.
Off the bench, High Point had contributions with
Tatum Goettelmann assisting two goals, while
Addison McEvers won her career-first draw control with a pair in the second half.
Anna Checkosky added an assist and two ground balls as
Emerson Pekarcik had two ground balls, too.
