Head Coach Chelsea Banbury: "I'm happy anytime you can get a win on the road. I thought we came out in those first 15 minutes playing well and we were sharing the ball while taking good shots. We were also shooting at a high percentage. They beat us the second 25 minutes and we must be better and more disciplined in our defensive game plan by taking them out of what they wanted to do."
High Point wasted little time taking control, opening the game on a 15-4 run behind strong play on both ends of the floor. The Panthers shot 62.5 percent in the opening quarter, knocking down four three-pointers, and limited Charleston Southern to just nine points to take a 26-9 lead after 10 minutes.
HPU continued to apply pressure in the second quarter, maintaining a comfortable advantage through all around scoring and work on the glass. The Panthers went into the break with a 45-25 lead after holding Charleston Southern to 29.4 percent shooting in the first half.
Charleston Southern showed fight coming out of halftime, but High Point answered in the third quarter. The Panthers connected on five three-pointers in the quarter and scored 26 points, keeping the margin in double figures entering the fourth.
High Point closed out the win by continuing to control the game, finishing with a 51-41 rebounding advantage and shooting 46.3 percent from the field.
Macy Spencer led five Panthers in double figures with 20 points and seven rebounds, while
Nevaeh Zavala added 15.
Brecken Snotherly finished with 14 points, eight rebounds and five assists.
Dom Nesland recorded a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, and Anna Hager chipped in 10 points as High Point showcased its depth and ability to control the boards.
