CARROLLTON, Ga. – The High Point University women's soccer team fell to University of West Georgia, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon.

High Point came out of the gates looking to score an early goal with a few chances resulting in corner kicks. A few shots went wide as the Wolves defended the Panthers to keep them off the board.
The HPU defense held West Georgia to just three shots in the first 45 minutes of play.
The Wolves jumped to a 1-0 lead after a goal in the 49th minute scored by Kaylen Brown.
High Point made its way into the Wolves zone a few times looking for the equalizer, but UWG found a way to stop the momentum.
The Panthers tallied a season-high 16 shots but couldn't connect on the one they needed to find the back of the net, resulting in a 1-0 loss to West Georgia.
Peyton Gilmore, and
Morgan Wilcox both registered three shots in today's contest.
Up Next: High Point will open Big South Conference play with a road trip to USC Upstate on September 24. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. in Spartanburg.
