HIGH POINT, N.C. — High Point University proudly announced the appointment of Katie Lovejoy as the new HPU Dance Coach on Wednesday, bringing a wealth of experience in dance education, choreography, and team leadership to the Panthers' spirit program.
Lovejoy has been serving as game day coach for the Lady Cats, where she coordinated logistics and fostered a positive, high-energy environment for the dance team. Her elevation to head coach is very deserving; she steps into a leadership role that combines her passion for performance with her commitment to student development.
"I'm honored to step into this new role and appreciate the confidence entrusted to me," Lovejoy said. "My goal is to embody excellence through athleticism, creativity, and unwavering school spirit."
A Greensboro native and graduate of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA), Lovejoy holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and has spent the past decade shaping young dancers across North Carolina. Her background includes teaching ballet and choreographing award-winning routines for students of all ages, as well as managing operations at Carolina Dancewear, where she developed a keen understanding of the dance industry's business side.
In addition to her coaching credentials, Lovejoy is Pilates Mat Certified and trained in the American Ballet Theatre's National Training Curriculum, which she has used to increase student retention and performance outcomes. Her leadership style emphasizes creativity, discipline, and collaboration—qualities she plans to bring to the HPU dance team as they prepare for upcoming seasons and competitions.
