BOONE, N.C. – The High Point University baseball team dropped its mid-week game at Appalachian State University, 11-10, in extra innings on Tuesday night.

Cord Butler got the start for High Point on Tuesday night. Butler didn't have his best stuff only pitching two innings, allowing five runs on three hits.
Howell Polk relieved Butler in the third as Polk found success tossing three innings, allowing one run on one hit.
Adrian Montenegro,
Joey Tuttoilmondo, and
Nick Semon rounded out the HPU arms tonight.
All before recording the first out, High Point tallied six runs on two hits to take the early lead in Boone. After loading the bases following a leadoff single, a walk, and a hit by pitch,
Brayden Simpson drew another walk bringing home the first run of the night.
Three Hillier followed with a grounder to first base causing an error to score
James Murphy from third.
Jake McCarter followed up with a grand slam to right center to clear the bases and put HPU out front, 6-0, before recording the first out of the night.
The Mountaineers cut into the Panthers lead in their first at-bats adding five runs on three hits before an inning ending double play put a stop to the ASU offense.
After a leadoff double from Durschlag in the second, Murphy poked one to left field that hugged the right side of the foul pole for a two-run home run to add to the HPU lead.
On a full count and a runner of first, Durschlag smoked a 446-foot homer to dead center, hitting off the batter's eye for his ninth long ball of his senior campaign to add to the lead in the fourth inning.
In the bottom of the fourth, ASU batted home its sixth run on a SAC fly allowing the runner to tag up from third base. After 1.5 scoreless innings, the Mountaineers broke the silence with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth to make it a three-run ball game.
App State wasn't going down quietly as they tacked on a run in the bottom of the ninth, before a two-out double scoring two runs to tie the game at 10, pushing the game to extra innings.
HPU went down unscathed in the top of the tenth, as the Mountaineers were quick to attack
Nick Semon in the bottom half. ASU scored the winning run from first on an RBI double down the left field line to walk it off earning the 11-10, victory on Tuesday night.
Up Next: High Point will head to Virginia for a weekend conference series with Radford University. The first game of the three-game series is on Friday, March 28 at 6:00 p.m.
