Site: Qubein Center
Score: High Point 78, UNC Asheville 51
Records: High Point (12-2, 1-0), UNC Asheville (5-9, 0-1)

Head Coach Chelsea Banbury: "I'm proud of our girls coming in after an 11-day break. It can always be a question of how you're going to show up and if we're going to be ready. Or if maybe it's going to take a quarter to get into things. Our girls came out ready to go. We jumped out on them in the first quarter and set the tone for the rest of the game. I think it's a pretty good win to open conference and it's one down. Today we went 1-0 and now it's onto the next."

High Point controlled the matchup from the start, racing out to a 25-11 lead in the first quarter and never looking back. The Panthers were efficient on the offensive end, shooting 43.8 percent from the floor while generating 42 points in the paint.

The Panthers set the tone as Aaliyah Collins and Macy Spencer each tallied 25 points to lead all scorers. Collins added six assists, five steals, and five rebounds in a strong performance, while Spencer knocked down five threes and sparked multiple scoring bursts throughout the afternoon.

HPU also saw valuable contributions across the lineup. Nevaeh Zavala finished with eight points and six rebounds, and Dom Nesland added six points off the bench. Chana Paxixe grabbed six boards to help High Point hold a 46-41 rebounding battle against the Bulldogs. Brecken Snotherly was also everywhere as she worked for five rebounds, and five assists.

High Point forced 27 UNC Asheville turnovers, turning them into 28 points while also pushing the tempo for 24 fast-break points. The Panthers stretched their lead to as many as 34 and maintained full control throughout to earn the 78-51 victory.

Up Next: High Point returns to action after the New Year when they travel to play USC Upstate on January 3 at 4:00 p.m.
