CHARLESTON, S.C. – The High Point University volleyball team stayed on the road in South Carolina for a matchup at Charleston Southern University. Continuing the sweep streak, the Panthers rolled past the Buccaneers with the 3-0 win.
Two Panthers led the day in double figures. Élodie Lalonde picked up 14 kills on the outside and
Addison Freeland registered 11 kills from the middle, making it her sixth consecutive game reaching double digits.

How it Happened:
Across all three matches, fans witnessed a competitive match between the teams, even taking one set into extra points. In the opening set, High Point gained some early points off Charleston Southern's attacking mistakes to go up 6-3. The Panthers led 9-8 before sparking a 4-0 run, initiated by
Ryley Boyne to lead 13-9 mid-way through the set.
High Point held its lead at 15-9 before CSU connected on three hits and a double block to close the game back to within two points at 15-13. HPU remained steady and forced the Buccaneers to make mistakes and allow easy points for the Panthers. High Point led 18-15 but only briefly as CSU made it an exciting last few points by tying the set at 18 all.
Lalonde and Boyne tied the set again at 20 all. Charleston Southern took its first lead since early in the set at 23-22. The Panthers made multiple subs on the front row with
Gia Padilla and
Gabby Hill who each contributed in the final points of the set. Hill registered a kill on the outside, followed by a Padilla service ace and a Lalonde kill. HPU won the first set 25-23.
In set two High Point trailed early until tying the set at seven all with a Freeland kill in the middle. She tied the set again at 9-9 with a kill, leading to an HPU 3-0 run to go up 11-9.
Maya Bukovcan entered the stat sheet and put down two kills to give the Panthers a 16-12 lead.
High Point held a steady three-to-four-point lead through the second half of the set and after leading 21-18, HPU went on to score four straight points to end the set. HPU won set two 25-18 for its largest set win of the day.
In the third set the Panthers jumped out to an early lead, going up 8-4 with a mix of kills on the front line from all three areas. Freeland recorded back-to-back kills to give the Panthers a 12-7 lead. Lalonde made it 15-10 but CSU closed the gap and built on five straight points to tie the set at 15 all.
Boyne and Lalonde kept HPU ahead by a two-point margin but two Panther mistakes tied the set again at 18 all. Going on a 4-0 run, High Point went up 22-18 but after scoring the teams 24th point with a chance to end the set, the Buccaneers battled back and tied the set at 24 all. High Point was able to walk away with a win in set three with the help of outside kills from Lalonde and Boyne to make it 26-24.
Extra Stats:
- As a team High Point hit .235 with its best percentage coming in the third set hitting .326 with 19 kills.
- HPU out hit CSU with 47 kills to the Buccaneers' 35.
- On the back row, Kea Whillock came up big with 20 digs to add to the Panthers' 76 total for the game.
