CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two High Point University Panthers have received Big South Conference honors once again after the team competed in the Dill Family Foundation Cross Country Invitational. Junior
Gavin Stevens was crowned the Big South Conference Runner of the Week and
Simon Triezenberg was awarded with Freshman of the Week, his second of the season.
Stevens received this honor after running a 24:13.23 PR in the 8k at the meet. The star runner remained towards the front the entire way and a last minute stretch saw him narrowly miss second place. Stevens paced at just over three minutes and placed third overall.
Triezenberg narrowly missed placing in the top 10 at the Greenville meet with a time of 24:46.03. The freshman placed 11th overall and was under two seconds away from a top-10 placement. This personal record was set after Triezenberg nearly ran one minute faster than he did at the Lancer Pink Invitational, the meet that awarded him his first freshman of the week honor.
In three meets this season, the Panthers have received a Big South Freshman of the Week three times.
UP NEXT: Both Stevens and Triezenberg will run next in Charlottesville, Va., on Friday, October 17th at the Panorama Farms Invite hosted by the University of Virginia.
