HIGH POINT, N.C – The High Point University women's soccer team defeated UNC Asheville 2-0 Saturday afternoon, at Vert Stadium. The Panthers were led by
Bella Burr with her first collegiate brace.

While the first half of play saw no goals scored, there were multiple shots attempted by both teams. Aubrey Mckessy kept a clean sheet recording two saves in the first half on eight shots faced. The Panthers offense created various opportunities, recording 15 shots in the first half.
Gianna Rizzo had the best chance to score just barely missing the net on a header in the 37th minute.
The Panthers carried their offense momentum into the second half, Burr opened up the scoring with a beautiful strike at the 58th minute assisted by
Morgan Wilcox and
Alex Murphy. Murphy launched a corner kick into the air, Wilcox headed it up for Burr to turn and back kick it into the goal.
Burr scored her second goal off another double assist from teammates
Faye Battersby and
Joellie Giquinto to give High Point a 2-0 lead in the 62nd minute. Burr's second goal was scored as a header into the left side of the net.
HPU recorded a season-high 24 shots, while McKessy recorded a clean-sheet with two saves.
Up Next: High Point will host Gardner-Webb University on Saturday, October 25 at 4:00 p.m. for its last home game of the regular season.
