HPU Women’s Golf Receives Highest National Ranking

HIGH POINT, N.C. —   The High Point University women's golf team has been ranked No. 60 in the first Official NCAA Division I Scoreboard rankings, which was announced on Wednesday afternoon, powered by Clippd.

This is the highest ranking in program history as the Panthers have risen in the rankings under HPU Head Coach Lyndsey Hunnell. During her tenure, High Point has been ranked No. 177 in 2021-22, No. 130 in 2022-23, No. 109 in 2023-2024, and No. 92 in 2024-2025 before moving to No. 60 amid the fall 2025-26 in her fourth season.

In four tournaments so far this season, High Point has finished runner-up three times — Pirate Collegiate Classic (-11), Lady Paladin (-5), and Golfweek Fall Challenge (+4) — while placing third at the Pat Bradley Invitational (+23).

HPU is averaging a round score of 288 through 12 rounds to lead the Big South, while the Panthers have three of the top five conference scoring averages: Makayla Grubb (second; 71.17), Anna Howerton (third; 72.00), and Eva Lye (fourth; 73.00). Ella Perna (eighth; 73.42) and Anais Arafi (10th; 73.92) are also in the top 10 of Big South women's golfers.

Grubb leads the team and conference with three top-10 finishes (two being top-5 placements) as she has won four weekly accolades — three Big South Freshman of the Week and one Big South Golfer of the Week — thus far.

Howerton, the reigning  Big South Golfer and Freshman of the Year, is second in the conference with two top-10 (one being top-5) finishes, while Lye has one in the top-5. Howerton and Lye have each won Big South Golfer of the Week; meanwhile, Lye has also been tabbed Big South Freshman of the Week.

The Panthers wrap up the fall slate next week at the White Sands Bahamas Tournament in Paradise Island, Bahamas on Friday, Oct. 24 through Sunday, Oct. 26.
