HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University volleyball team will be hosting the annual High Point Invitational this weekend beginning on Friday, September 6 and continuing through September 8.

Ohio enters the weekend 2-1 after picking up wins over Xavier (3-0) and App State (3-2) in the Bobcat Invitational. In the 2024 Mid-American Conference Volleyball Preseason Coaches' Poll, Ohio was selected to finish fifth overall and received 84 points. Junior Anna Kharchynska was named to the 2024 Preseason All- MAC Team. The Bobcats concluded the 2023 season with an 18-13 overall and 13-5 conference record. Ohio finished second in the MAC - tied with Buffalo and Ball State - and won the East Division. The Bobcats ranked third in the MAC for kills, fourth for points and assists and fifth for hitting percentage.
 
Mercer University
 
Mercer opened the 2024 season with a 4-0 record after defeating Quinnipiac (3-1), Rhode Island (3-0) and North Florida (3-2) at the UNF Invitational. The Bears also picked up a win over Maryland Eastern Shore (3-0) on Wednesday evening. Following the weekend, Meme Davis was named to the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week. Mercer was picked the preseason favorite in the SoCon coaches' poll with middle blocker Skyler Bumpers being named to the Preseason All-Conference selections.
 
Last Time Out
 
High Point opened the season at the doTERRA Classic at BYU over the weekend, picking up wins over Fairfield (3-1) and Southeastern Louisiana (3-2), while taking a set on No. 16 ranked BYU. The Panthers finished the week out west with a matchup against Stephen F. Austin on Tuesday night and fell 3-0 to the Ladyjacks. In the mix of games, Allie Gray was named the Big South Setter of the Week after totaling 131 assists (10.8 per set), while adding two kills, five blocks, and 24 digs at the doTERRA Classic.
