MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. — In the team's first matchup since 2008, the High Point University women's soccer team traveled to the coast to face the College of Charleston Thursday night as the Cougars bested the Panthers, 3-0.

With less than four minutes remaining in the half, Charleston took the lead when Lilli Ray rebounded a ball off the cross bar and finished it.
The shots were nearly even across the board after 45 minutes with the Cougars having one shot more than the Panthers. In all, High Point had 14 shots to Charleston's 12 as each had six shots on goal.
High Point had chances alike Charleston but were unable to capitalize on them. After the Cougars added their second goal in the 54th minute,
Carly Smith and
Courtney Andruczk had solid looks to cut at the deficit.
Emily Mashinski,
Peyton Gilmore and
Ellie Hammer also had well-struck shots, but Cougars' keeper Savannah Barron kept the clean sheet.
In her first start at HPU,
Aubrey McKessy had three saves in net.
