Winston – Salem, N.C. – The High Point men's and women's track and field teams traveled across town to compete at the one-day Wake Forest Invitational on Friday.
In the running events, multiple athletes finished in the top 5 in their respective races. Crushing it in the women's 400-meter hurdles,
Lindsay Cooper set a program record with a time of 58.41 and a first-place finish.
In the men's 100m dash,
A'lajuwan Robinson and
Deron Dudley finished tenths of seconds apart. Robinson recorded a 10.43 time followed by Dudley with a 10.48 time. The two later competed in the men's 200m and paced second and third with times of 20.88 and 21.12. Tynelius Morrow trailed Robinson and Dudley placing fourth overall running 21.36.
In the women's 400m race,
Dae'Nitra Hester placed first with a time of 53.90. She later competed in the 200m dash and finished fourth overall with a time of 24.30.
Nikki Frail placed in the top 10 in the women's 800m recording a time of 2:09.91.
In the jumping events,
Alex Constantinou and
Shaun Thomas placed fifth and sixth respectively as Constantinou recorded a personal best 2.10m. Thomas jumped 2.05m. On the women's side,
Sydney Koker placed fourth in the high jump after clearing the bar at 1.65m.
In the men's pole vault,
Reid Holloway and
Maxwell Robinson finished in the top 5. Holloway cleared a height of 5.12m while Robinson cleared 4.82m. In the women's pole vault,
Auriane Viola cleared 3.91m and placed fourth overall.
Kelly Chaballa opened the meet in the women's javelin throw and placed third overall with a 37.54m throw.
Letizia Jessica Marsico threw 13.33m in the women's shot put to earn a spot in 10th overall.
Closing out the meet,
Chris Van Niekerk placed second in the mens shot put after throwing 18.37m.
