HAMPTON, Va. – Hitting the road for a mid-week non-conference matchup, the High Point men's lacrosse team dominated against the Pirates of Hampton University. The Panthers put the pedal to the metal from the jump and took the victory 27-5.
High Point matched the score against Hampton a season ago with 27 goals (27-9, Feb. 26, 2023) to tie the program record for most goals scored in a single game.
"It was a great team win," Head Coach
Jon Torpey stated. "I have a lot of respect for this program, their staff and their phenomenal group of guys. They never quit and they kept fighting. I'm just happy with our guys' effort overall. We came off one of the toughest stretches of games in our program's history with three really good games against some quality opponents. I think the guys were kind of wondering like 'Where are we, and what do we need to do to get back?' "and I thought they did a really good job responding to that today."
