CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Jordan Miles registered her third straight game with three-plus goals as the High Point University women's lacrosse team fell to eighth-ranked North Carolina Sunday afternoon, 23-3.
SITE: Dorrance Field
SCORE: High Point 3, #8 North Carolina 23
RECORDS: High Point (1-2), UNC (4-1)
Head Coach Lyndsey Boswell: "While I don't feel like today was our best day of lacrosse, UNC is a very good team, and we always learn a lot from playing them. We were dominated on the draw circle, and that dictated possession time for us. We have a lot of room for improvement; I'm looking forward to seeing how this team responds."
Miles' first goal came in the first quarter via an assist from
Esprit Cha, who now has three assists over the past two games for a team-leading 11 points. The junior attacker deposited another in the third quarter on a breakaway to the cage before using an assist from
Mackie Scheib to earn a hat trick in the fourth frame.
The assist from Scheib was her first this season, while Miles secured her third straight game with three or more goals for a team-best 10 goals this season.
Aryss Lindsey led the team with two ground balls, while
Gracie Vickery recorded a career-high three draw controls and
Allie Connally won a career-best two draw controls. Six players caused a turnover; meanwhile,
Joy Coffey and
Ava Welsh split time in the cage with Coffey earning her third consecutive start.
Up Next: HPU welcomes San Diego State next Sunday, March 3 for the team's second-ever meeting, which is slated to begin at noon inside Vert Stadium.
