CLEVELAND, Ohio – The High Point University men's lacrosse team continued their road journey with a trip to play Cleveland State University for the first time. Keeping it close through the first half, the Panthers turned on the heat in the second to take the 18-11 victory.
Having a stand-out game,
Isiah Moran-Weekes secured his first goals of the season while recording a career-high four to lead the team. He took six shots with six shots on goal and added three ground balls.

Nick Rizzo tagged the Panthers first goal of the game in the early minutes of action. Moran-Weekes found the back of the net to put HPU up 2-0 at 12:49.
The Vikings countered with two goals of their own to tie the game at two all. Exchanging between the next four goals of the game, the score tied at four all before the Vikings took their first lead of the game at 6-4.
High Point trailed by one at the end of the first quarter with a goal from
Collin Hoben. Winning his fifth face-off of the game, the face-off specialist took it himself down field to score goal number one of the season.
Coming out of the break to start the second quarter, High Point dominated on the attack and scored five goals in a span of 10 minutes to take an 11-6 lead. The Vikings broke HPU's goal streak at the three-minute mark before
Nick Murphy scored the Panthers final goal before the half to make it 12-7.
Cleveland State strung together three goals in the third to close the gap to two at 12-10. From there the Panthers had the Vikings' offense on lock down and only allowed them to score one more goal through the final 24 minutes of the game.
On the other hand, HPU's offense kept it rolling and scored six goals in the end including two from Moran-Weekes, one from
Ben DiMento for his first of the season, one from
Matt Lutzel, one from
Collin Rovere and one from
Jack Sawyer for a hat trick.

High Point remains on the road for the third straight game with a trip to No. 6/8 Syracuse University. The teams will square off Saturday March 2 at 5:00 p.m. in Syracuse, N.Y.
