The Vikings countered with two goals of their own to tie the game at two all. Exchanging between the next four goals of the game, the score tied at four all before the Vikings took their first lead of the game at 6-4.

High Point trailed by one at the end of the first quarter with a goal from Collin Hoben. Winning his fifth face-off of the game, the face-off specialist took it himself down field to score goal number one of the season.

Coming out of the break to start the second quarter, High Point dominated on the attack and scored five goals in a span of 10 minutes to take an 11-6 lead. The Vikings broke HPU's goal streak at the three-minute mark before Nick Murphy scored the Panthers final goal before the half to make it 12-7.

Cleveland State strung together three goals in the third to close the gap to two at 12-10. From there the Panthers had the Vikings' offense on lock down and only allowed them to score one more goal through the final 24 minutes of the game.

On the other hand, HPU's offense kept it rolling and scored six goals in the end including two from Moran-Weekes, one from Ben DiMento for his first of the season, one from Matt Lutzel, one from Collin Rovere and one from Jack Sawyer for a hat trick.
