BLACKSBURG, Va —
High Point University wrapped up its final indoor meet before Big South Conference Championships at the Virginia Tech Challenge Saturday afternoon.


Jake Tarosky held down the men's distance team, finishing eighth in the men's mile with a time of 4:15.26 before rocking to first place in the 800m with a time of 1:54.91. Aiden Britt represented the Panthers in the 400m, where the junior clocked a time of 48.69 to place third overall.

On the women's side, Lindsay Cooper and Gianna Paul locked down the 60m hurdles. Cooper popped off with a first-place finish, clocking a time of 8.51 while Paul finished in third with a time of 8.70. On the men's side, Antonio Votour hurdled to the top-5 with a time of 8.52.

Over in field events, Chris Van Niekerk once again dominated the shot put competition, placing first with a mark of 18.47m. Teammates Nick Morse, Timon Edelen, and Brandon Lewis also participated in the shot put. Morse took home fourth with a throw of 16.29m, Edelen secured seventh with a mark of 14.41m and Lewis rounded out the Panther lineup with a throw of 12.99m.

Letizia Marisco represented the women in shot put as the senior threw a mark of 14.05m to place sixth overall. Andrew Taylor was back in action this weekend as well, jumping his way to first place with a mark of 2.14m. 

High Point once again dominated in the pole vault with Sydney Horn locking down first place with a mark of 4.38m. Auriane Viola and Rachel Vesper accompanied Horn in the top-10, with Viola placing fourth with a mark of 4.12m and Vesper jumping to a mark of 3.97m.

On the men's side, Reid Holloway represented the Panthers, clearing 5.12m to place sixth. Maxwell Robinson, Adam Craig, and Jake Morgan competed in the unseeded category of pole vault. Robinson took home third with a mark of 4.95m, Craig secured fifth with a mark of 4.65m and Morgan cleared 4.50m to land in ninth.

A former Panther also competed in the pole vault this weekend. HPU Alum Austin Miller cleared 5.90m to place third overall at the USA Indoor Championships to set himself up nicely for the Olympic Trials this summer.

Up Next: The Panthers head back to Blacksburg for the Big South Conference Indoor Championships scheduled for next Friday and Saturday.
