The High Point University volleyball team hits the road for a trip to the first round of the NCAA Women's Volleyball Tournament. The Panthers return to the big stage for the fourth time in the last five seasons (spring 2021) after gaining an automatic qualifier following the 3-2 Big South Conference Tournament victory. HPU is scheduled to take on the No. 4 seed University of Oregon (22-7) on Thursday, December 5 in Eugene, Oregon. The first serve is set for 9:30 PM EST.
Also playing at Oregon is TCU (21-7) and Hawai'i (21-9). The winners of Friday's contest will move on to play on Saturday, December 2 at 6 PM against the winner of the Western Kentucky Coastal Carolina match.

High Point defeated Winthrop in the Big South Tournament Championship with a 3-2 victory. The Panthers were led by the Tournament MVP,
Arica Davis with 15 kills and four blocks on a .520 hitting percentage.
Dylan Maberry (13),
Eve Wilson (13) and Élodie Lalonde also reached double figures on the attack.
Jordyn Schilling and Maberry were also named to the Big South All-Tournament Team.
About the Ducks
Coming from the Big 10, the Oregon Ducks ended their season with a 3-1 win over UCLA finishing the conference regular season, 14-6 in fifth place. The team was awarded one of the 32 at-large berths.
Mimi Colyear leads Oregon on the outside attack averaging 4.03 kills per set, after playing in 103 sets this season. Colyear is complimented by Michelle Ohwobete who also plays on the outside rotation and averaged 2.75 kills per set with a .255 hit percentage. As a team Oregon hit .266 during the season averaging 13.1 kills per set while holding their opponents to an average of 11.9 kills with a .171 hit percentage.
This will be the Panthers and Ducks first match up in program history.
NCAA Tournament History
- Since becoming Division I, HPU has been to the NCAA Tournament six times.
- With 2024 being the seventh appearance, the Panthers have been to the Tournament seven times since 2017.
- The farthest HPU has made it in the Tournament was in the spring 2021 covid-19 season with a first-round victory over UCF, 3-2.
