HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University volleyball team finished out the weekend with another Big South conference sweep on Saturday afternoon. HPU defeated Charleston Southern 3-0 after holding the Buccaneers to 16 points or under in all three sets.
 
Across all three sets, the Panthers jumped out with early leads. The early dominance set the tone for each set and helped HPU cruise to a steady advantage. All areas on the attack were producing points, led by Dylan Maberry on the outside with 13 kills.
 
Another key component for the Panthers was their serve. Although the stat line only shows four service aces, HPU sent over tough serves which made it difficult for CSU to get in formation and set up its offense. High Point took advantage of many free balls while also protected its side of the court with 10 blocks.
 
 In set one, the right side was dominating. Jayde Shelton and Eve Wilson combined for ¼ of HPU's kills in the first set. CSU made a 5-1 run following HPU's 10-5 lead to make it 11-10 but High Point answered with a run of their own with eight straight points. Maberry registered the 19th point after a perfect set from middle blocker Arica Davis. From there the teams exchanged points and the Panthers took the 25-16 win with a kill from freshman, Élodie Lalonde.
 
High Point kept the pressure on in set two, taking another early 5-0 lead. The offense shared the ball well and even witnessed a kill from freshman Ella Grace Holloway at the 16-6 mark. HPU reached the 20th point of the set with a double block from BayLea Sparks and Holloway which helped carry momentum through the final five points for the 25-13 win.
 
The Panthers set out on another 6-1 lead in the third set. CSU struggled to get its attack going, sending multiple hits sailing deep out the end zone. After taking a 12-4 lead, the Panthers did not hold back and stretched on a 19-10 lead. Maberry performed another stunt on the backrow after diving for a ball while falling into the bleachers to help high Point earn the 16-7 point. Addison Freeland jumped in on the action and knocked in a kill on the right side to make it 22-14. From there HPU secured the final three points to take the set 25-15 and a match sweep.
 
On the back line, Jordyn Schilling (16), Kenendy Louisell (15) and Maberry (10) all contributed double figure digs to help put the attack in position to succeed. Allie Gray and Hannah Hawkins split time as the setters and combined for 38 assists. Overall HPU out hit CSU 42 to 20.
