Panthers Set for Inaugural Race at High Point Rowing Autumn Festival

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University women's rowing team will race in its first-ever regatta in school history at the High Point Autumn Rowing Festival, presented by Bethany Medical and the Lenny Peters Foundation at Oak Hollow Lake on Sunday, Oct. 6.

Hosted by the Triad United Rowing Club, the regatta will host 81 races throughout the day.

"We are excited to test our speed this early into our inaugural season," said HPU Head Coach Jessica Deitrick. "Getting to race side-by-side with these other crews is an experience that not many teams get to have; we are feeling blessed and ready to race."

High Point will compete in four races against Old Dominion University, University of Oxford, Duke University, and the Ukrainian National Team, while also participating in the Women's Collegiate Novice 8+ race as the Panthers look to capture the 2024 Dr. Lenny Peters Cup.

The Panthers open competition Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. as they will line up against Oxford and Old Dominion before rowing in the Women's Collegiate Novice 8+ at 12:50 p.m.

HPU will race at 1:30 p.m. against Ukraine and Old Dominion before wrapping up the day at 2:25 p.m. with a 300m dash against Duke, Old Dominion and Ukraine in a 10-boat sprint.

The 2024 High Point Autumn Rowing Festival is free entry for all spectators; however, parking is $10 a car and is cash only. Gates will open on Sunday morning at 7:00 a.m.
