HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University women's rowing team is set to open the spring season on Saturday, March 21 as the Panthers host Colgate University and the University of North Carolina at Oak Hollow Lake. HPU enters the spring season with a chance to compete for a Mid-American Conference Championship in May at Ford Lake in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
After continuing to build the program over the past several seasons and seeing major improvement during the fall season, HPU looks to take another step forward against conference competition.
"Saturday marks the start of our spring racing season," Head Coach
Jessica Deitrick said. "The women have been working hard, making changes, developing as a team and finding more speed through the winter and early spring months. They are excited to line up and test their speed against great competition. They know that whatever happens in this first race, the expectation is that they continue to find more speed, develop as a program, and continue the BUILD. They have their eyes set on the MAC championship in May and know that what they do each day leads to their performance on that day."
The Panthers used the fall season as a strong starting point, gaining valuable experience and laying the groundwork for the spring. That momentum has carried over, as High Point returns a mix of veteran leadership and developing talent that provides depth across the varsity lineup. The group has continued to show steady progress, with improvements in both speed and consistency throughout early racing opportunities.
As a new season begins, the focus will remain on building momentum and refining execution on the water. With the MAC Championship on the horizon, High Point aims to compete well in its debut and continue establishing itself within the conference.
