The Panthers put up a fight on Friday afternoon, opening the first set in extra point fashion. High Point's Christine Graf put away set one for the Panthers after the game was tied up 24-24. A kill and block on the net for Graf secured a first set win, 26-24. Graf finished set one hitting a perfect 4-for-4.

Set two remained competitive as three straight kills from High Point gave the Panthers the 13-10 lead to force a Bulldogs timeout. Staying focused, HPU kept pushing, even after feeling the pressure at 24-24. After going down 25-24, Maberry and Graf put the Panthers back on top before a Bulldogs error gave HPU the 27-25 win.

Staying on fire, High Point stretched on an 8-4 lead early in the third set. Holding onto the lead through half of the set, Yale tied the game at 14 all with two back-to-back kills. HPU took another three-point lead but the Bulldogs closed the gap to tie it back up at 17 all. The teams took it down to the wire for the third straight set, but the Panthers came up short from a 3-0 sweep, falling 25-23 in the third set.

The fourth set started out like the first three as the score remained close. Big time blocks from the opposite corners of the net helped High Point to a 16-11 lead mid-way through. As the Panthers kept heating up, High Point extended the teams lead to 22-16, the largest of the match. HPU prevented the Bulldogs from landing another point and took the set 25-16.
