"I'm proud of the way our guys came out today, it's always good to pick up a conference win," said head coach
Jon Torpey. "St. Bonaventure is a well-coached team; I have nothing but respect for what Randy Mearns has done up here. But I'm proud of our effort."

The Panthers were hot from the start, scoring the first six goals of the game across 10 minutes and seven in the first quarter to hold the commanding 7-1 lead. VanOverbeke put HPU on the board less than a minute into the game off a pass from
Nick Rizzo for his 30
th goal of the season. VanOverbeke took the passing role two minutes later, finding
Brayden Mayea for one of his team-high five goals. With 8:10 left on the clock,
Nick Murphy cut toward the crease and scored on a behind-the-back shot to give High Point the 3-0 lead.

Less than 10 seconds later, VanOverbeke scored his second goal of the day. In the last six minutes of the opening quarter, HPU finished on a 3-1 run with two goals from Sawyer and another from Mayea.

The Bonnies turned the ball over seven times in the first quarter as HPU players picked up five caused turnovers.
Grant Ammann, who finished with six caused turnovers and four ground balls, led the Panther defense with three caused turnovers in the first period.

High Point continued its dominance into the second period, again allowing only one St. Bonaventure goal to close the half. Sawyer and Mayea both tallied goals in the first five minutes of play while Mayea answered back in the last five minutes with another winner. VanOverbeke and
Collin Rovere each scored in the final minutes of the half as well.

While the Panthers began to rotate more players into the game in the second half, HPU continued to hold momentum. Mayea and
Michael Ippolito scored in the first five minutes of third-quarter play before St. Bonaventure answered back with its third goal of the day.

Just over a minute after the Bonnies score, Rizzo recorded his first goal of the day on a dish from
Hunter Vines to keep High Point ahead, 15-3. The last minute of the third marked the start of a Bonnies 5-2 run. The run was broken up in the fourth quarter by
Isiah Moran-Weekes, who tallied two goals down the stretch.
