HPU Drops Midweek Clash at #3 UNC

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The High Point University women's lacrosse team traveled to the University of North Carolina Thursday for a midweek clash, falling 22-4 to the No. 3 Tar Heels.

Site: Dorrance Field
Score: High Point 2, #3 UNC 22
Records: High Point (1-6), UNC (8-1)

Head Coach Lyndsey Boswell: "This is a very disappointing loss tonight.  We were confident in our preparations before the game, but it took us until the second half to communicate and execute the game plan. We have a lot to figure out before Big South play, but I remain excited about the future of this group."

Jordan Miles and Mena Loescher netted two goals apiece, while Emma Nowakowski and Loescher each dished out an assist. It was the fifth multi-score game for Loescher and the fourth for Miles, who netted her goals in the first half with Loescher's coming in the final 15 minutes.

Miles also recorded a season-high four draw controls to lead the Panthers, while Caitlyn Baehr and Mandy Brockamp scooped up two groundballs apiece. In goal, Taylor Suplee and Sadie Coachman each saw time with Suplee starting and Coachman taking over with three minutes left in the third quarter. They both had a caused turnover.

UP NEXT: HPU will be back in action when Winthrop University comes to Vert Stadium for the Big South Conference opener Wednesday, March 29 at 5 p.m.
