High Point, N.C. – The High Point men's basketball team welcomed the Spartans of UNC Greensboro to the Qubein Center for a mid-week non-conference match up. From the jump, the Panthers led the game, battling to a 73-64 victory.
Leading the night for the Panthers,
Trae Benham tied his career-high with seven made three pointers shooting 70% from beyond the arc and dropping 21 points.
"We didn't have our best stuff tonight," head coach
Alan Huss stated. "I thought our effort defensively was pretty darn good. I thought they were a different team without the big man but to hold the two Langley brothers to 11 and 14 and only let them get 18 attempts tonight, I thought that was a big deal and tremendous effort from our guards who were guarding them. We got the defensive rebounds figured out in the second half and that's kind of been our calling card most of the year. We have to figure out what we're doing wrong on these illegal screens because it's costing us some possessions."
