HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point Panthers hosted Presbyterian College on Saturday afternoon for senior day and the team's final home game of the regular season. The Panthers defeated the Blue Hose, 3-1.
Prior to the start of the game, HPU recognized five seniors, two graduate students and three graduating seniors. The graduate students included
Regina Tijerina and
Christine Graf, while the seniors included
Jayde Shelton,
Evy Eckensberger and
Dylan Maberry.
Following the match, the Big South Commissioner, Sharika Montgomery presented High Point with the Big South Regular Season Championship trophy. The Panthers clinched the regular season title after going, 13-0 in conference play.
"Anytime you lock up a conference championship it's a good day," head coach
Ryan Meek stated. "Presbyterian makes you play good volleyball and when we did that I thought we were very good. Eve really came through for us and had a career night and carried us for stretches. We're looking forward to finishing up next weekend and hosting the Big South Conference Tournament in two weeks!"

After dropping set one, 25-23, High Point bounced back in the second, taking control with a 25-13 win. A 6-0 run to start the set paved way to the large victory.
Eve Wilson was leading the team with seven kills, recording a .545 hit percentage in the middle.
Wilson kept it going in the third with three more kills before the Panthers 12
th point. Maberry and Wilson controlled the net on the block through the first three sets, each tagging four block assists. Shelton knocked in two kills late in the set to extend HPU's lead to 23-11.
Set four started close at 7-6, but following the Panthers seventh point with a service ace from Wilson, the Panthers trekked on an eight point lead to make it 18-10. Within the mix of points,
Kea Whillock served in back-to-back service aces.
Wilson had herself a day, passing her career-high in kills (13) in the fourth set to finish the day with 21 kills for a .613 hit percentage.

High Point hit the road next Friday, November 10, for the team's final game of the regular season at Radford. The first serve is set for 6:00 PM.
