HIGH POINT, N.C. — High Point University men's golf travels to South Carolina to participate in the Furman Intercollegiate, men's soccer takes on a Power Five foe and women's soccer takes on its last opponent with hopes of solidifying its Big South Conference Tournament berth. Volleyball looks to keep its conference win streak going with a couple of Big South matchups, while men's cross country aims to finish strong at the Big South Championships meet and the women's cross country eyes its seventh consecutive Big South Championship.

Last time out, High Point played at the Xavier Invitational. Gregor Meyer led the Panthers at Xavier, shooting the second-lowest round of the tournament in the third, carding 4-under 66. The senior finished with a 214 total to place T10. Burch Harrison was next for High Point, finishing with a 224 total, good for T38. Charlie Barr appeared in his first tournament this season, scoring 229 to place T48. Freshman Miller Carr was only two above Barr, carding a 231 total placing him 56th. Jay Smith rounded out the lineup for the Panthers, securing a 67th place finish with a 246 total.

High Point will be traveling to South Carolina to participate in the Furman Intercollegiate which is scheduled to tee-off early Sunday morning. Meyer is first in the lineup, followed by Harrison, Newton, Roberts, and Barr. Freshman Carr will also be attending the Furman Intercollegiate as an individual.

HPU last went up against the University of North Carolina Asheville this past weekend. The Panthers came to play, scoring their first goal in the 15th minute, before doubling the score only five minutes later. On defense, HPU prevented Asheville from taking any shots in the first half, leading to a 2-0 score as the game paused at intermission. After halftime, High Point continued to play aggressively, scoring a third goal in the 69th minute before scoring for a fourth time just 10 minutes later. Asheville was able to fire off a few shots in the second half, taking five with two on goal, but the Bulldogs were unable to convert their attempts to points leading to a High Point victory, 4-0. 

The University of Virginia last played fellow ACC member Virginia Tech. The Cavaliers came out firing, scoring their first goal within the first two minutes of play, before doubling their score in the 21st minute. Virginia Tech took five shots during the first half, two of which were on goal; however, the Hokies couldn't quite land the ball in the net, leading to a 2-0 score heading into intermission. After halftime, Virginia Tech ramped up its shots, taking eight in the second with only one attempt on goal. The Cavaliers took nine shots in the second, converting one to a goal at the 58th minute. The game ended with Virginia taking the dub, 3-0. 

High Point last played UVA in 2021. The Cavaliers came out firing, scoring their first goal in the first five minutes of the game. Virginia fired off 10 shots against the Panthers in the first half, while HPU only took three. At the 38th minute, UVA scored again, pushing the score to 2-0 heading into halftime. After intermission, High Point buckled down on defense, preventing the Cavaliers from scoring again despite the nine shots taken against HPU. Despite the increased performance on defense, the offensive side of High Point's team struggled, unable to take any shots against UVA in the second half. The game ended with a Panthers loss, 2-0. HPU has played Virginia only three times since the first matchup in 2012, and has yet to win against the Cavaliers.

High Point last played Gardner-Webb University in the second-to-last game before the Big South Conference Tournament. The first half was relatively quiet. High Point took six shots against the Bulldogs while GWU was only able to fire off one. The score remained tied at zeros as the two teams broke for halftime. After intermission, both teams ramped up their shooting. High Point took 13 shots in the second while Gardner-Webb took six. Neither team was able to land a goal until the 59th minute mark when HPU's Tessa Carlin maneuvered the ball past the goalie and broke the tie. Less than 10 minutes later, the Bulldogs answered with the equalizer, tying the game up again at ones. During the last 20 minutes of play, neither team was able to gain the upper hand, leading to a 1-1 tie. 

Asheville last went up against Charleston Southern University in its second-to-last game. Asheville fired off seven shots in the first half, while CSU took five, but neither team was able to convert their attempts to points, leading to a scoreless first half. After intermission, Charleston Southern ramped up its shots, doubling its attempts to 10 in the second. The Buccaneers' increased aggression on offense led to the game's first goal at the 59th minute as Charleston Southern finally landed a ball into the net. Asheville attempted to respond with a goal of its own, taking 12 shots in the second half, but the Bulldogs were unable to secure the equalizer, leading to an Asheville loss, 1-0. 

Last time High Point and Asheville met each other on the field, HPU decimated the Bulldogs. HPU came out firing, scoring its first goal within the first three minutes of play. Thirty minutes later, High Point doubled its score to hold a 2-0 lead over the Bulldogs as the teams broke for halftime. After the break, HPU struck again, scoring its third goal in the 53rd minute. The Bulldogs attempted to stop the Panthers from furthering their lead even more, but Asheville was unsuccessful as HPU scored for a fourth time at the 71st minute before turning around and scoring a fifth goal less than a minute later. The game ended with a Panther dub, 5-0.

HPU downed another Big South foe this past weekend as the Panthers took on University of South Carolina Upstate. The Spartans took the early lead against High Point, but the Panthers turned it around with back-to-back kills to cut the Spartans' lead. Upstate battled back, refusing to give up as the set was pushed into extra points, but the Panthers prevailed with the help of Christine Graf, who secured five kills out of High Point's last eight points to take the set 27-25. The Panthers capitalized on the momentum of the electric first set, taking an 18-12 lead before claiming the second 25-17. Upstate and High Point exchanged points early in the third, tying up the game on eight separate occasions until the Panthers pushed past with a six-point lead. The Spartans didn't give up, cutting HPU's lead to only two one point, but the Panthers put the set away, 25-23, and secured another Big South sweep. 

Gardner-Webb last played Presbyterian College in an intense 5-set matchup. The two teams fought hard the first couple sets, but Presbyterian prevailed, taking the first and second set 25-23. The Blue Hose were looking at a sweep, but GWU fought back, pushing the third set to extra points before claiming it 28-26 to avoid the sweep. The Bulldogs capitalized on their momentum, taking the fourth set by a 12-point margin. Presbyterian buckled down in the final set, unwilling to give up the victory. The Blue Hose claimed the fifth set 15-10 to take the dub over Gardner-Webb. 

Last time High Point and Gardner-Webb stepped onto the court, the Panthers dominated the Bulldogs in a quick sweep. GWU fought hard in the first two sets, but High Point prevailed, taking both 25-21, and 25-22, respectively. Exhausted, the Bulldogs slipped in the third, dropping the set 25-15, leading to e Panthers' victory. High Point has only lost three games to Gardner-Webb out of the 32 times the two teams played since their first matchup in 2003.

Winthrop University last played Charleston Southern in a quick three-set matchup. Winthrop came out swinging in the first, taking the set 25-14. The Eagles used their momentum from the first set to crush the Buccaneers 25-27 in the second. Charleston Southern attempted to fight back in the third, but the Eagles claimed the set by two points, leading to a Winthrop victory, 3-0. 

High Point last played Winthrop almost a month ago in one of its first conference matchups. HPU came out strong, taking an 8-0 run to help the team secure the first match 25-15. The Panthers took the lead again in the second, taking the set 25-18. The Eagles battled back in the third, taking the lead 10-6. High Point battled back, going on a 5-1 run to tie the game before taking the set 25-22, sweeping the Eagles. High Point has played Winthrop 46 times since their first matchup in 1999. HPU has won 17 times and lost 29 games to the Eagles.

Women's cross country has currently earned six-consecutive Big South Championships and are on the hunt for a seventh this year. Despite losing several leaders from last year, High Point has held its own this season, finishing in the top-5 in three out of four regular-season meets HPU has competed in. The High Point team is led by freshman Brianna Malone, who finished in the top-10 in every race she has competed in, two of which she finished in the top-three. Last time out, women's cross country raced against several Power Five schools at Pre-Nationals meet, hosted by the University of Virginia. HPU competed in the orange heat and placed seventh among 15 teams. Brianna Malone led the Panthers, finishing in the top-10 at eighth place with a time of 21:06.7. Katie Taylor finished shortly after in 12th place, posting a time of 21:15.4. Elizabeth Ritter was the third Panther across the line, finishing in 37th, clocking a time of 22:00.7. Charli Montalvo posted a time of 22:18.9, good for 54th place. Joanna Poland finished in 68th, clocking a time of 22:36.6. Olive Allen competed for the first time since the Elon Opener, finishing in 79th with a time of 22:51.7. Paris Stankewich crossed the line at 22:56.5, good for 84th place. Shauna Skow rounded out the lineup for High Point, finishing with a time of 23:40.5, placing her 106th. 

Men's cross country also competed at the Pre-Nationals meet among Power Five schools. High Point finished ninth among 11 teams competing in the orange heat. Hunter Steinau finished first for the Panthers in sixth place with a 6K time of 24:33.4. Ian Miller was next across the line, clocking a time of 25:09.8 to finish in 34th place. Reuben Kosche rounded out the top-three for High Point, finishing at 25:36.4, good for 54th place. Jake Tarosky was right on Kosche's tail, finishing three runners behind the graduate student in 57th place, clocking a time of 25:38.9. Jacob Fiorillo was the fifth Panther to cross the line, landing in 66th place with a time of 25:53.5. Jason Thomson finished not long after, clocking at time of 25:58.5, good for 69th place. Freshman Kyle Spencer finished in 71st place, with a time of 25:59.6. Kyler Koning crossed the finish line at 26:12.0, good for 78th place. Peter Imhoff rounded out the lineup for the Panthers, finishing in 96th with a time of 28:40.0
