Buies Creek, N.C. - High Point earned its fifth straight win on Wednesday, defeating Campbell 57-49 at Gore Arena. The win moves the Panthers into second place in the Big South.
Head coach Chelsea Banbury: "This was a big win. This was a big game and we definitely needed this one heading into Saturday. A lot of people contributed. Jordan and Claire were excellent for us today scoring and defensively."
Jordan Edwards had a game-high 15 points to go with eight assists. Claire Wyatt had 13 points and led the team with seven rebounds.
The Panthers were locked in on offense in the third quarter, shooting 58.3% from the field in the frame. The highlight of the night was High Point's 12-0 run in the third quarter, giving the Panthers a 37-23 lead, which was their largest of the night.
High Point started the game strong defensively, forcing shot clock violations on Campbell's first two possessions. That led to an 8-0 run to open the contest. Nakyah Terrell started the scoring with a layup. After Jordan Edwards made two free throws, Terrell made another layup to make it 6-0. Edwards found a cutting Wyatt to make it 8-0 before Campbell called timeout. Wyatt would make two more layups within the final two minutes. Brittany Staves scored Campbell's final seven points of the quarter to make it 14-10 after the first frame.
Campbell would take its first lead of the game with 4:22 remaining in the second quarter. Erika Joseph hit a three to make it 21-18. But the Panthers would respond with a 7-0 run to close the half. Edwards made a layup and a three pointer to make it a two point advantage. Shakira Baskerville added a layup with 30 seconds left to make it 25-21.

Gianni Boone opened the third quarter with a layup before High Point went on its 12-0 run. It was Edwards who hit a three, followed by a Jenson Edwards layup. After a flagrant foul on Audrey Fuller, Wyatt made back-to-back layups to force a Campbell timeout. Out of the timeout, Baskerville hit a corner three to give HPU its biggest lead of the night. The sophomore scored the Panthers final seven points of the quarter to give her 11 on the night and send High Point into the fourth quarter up 41-31.

Campbell got the game to within four, going on a 9-2 run. Staves, Joseph and Fuller all hit three pointers, forcing High Point to call timeout with the score 45-41. Out of the timeout, it was Edwards who drained a three to make it 48-41. Wyatt followed with a layup to make it a nine point advantage. Campbell would claw to within six, going on a 7-2 run in the final minute. But Skyler Curran knocked down two free throws with 6.4 to play to make it 57-49.
