FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The High Point University volleyball team picked up a 3-1 win over Sacred Heart to open play at the Fairfield Invitational.
Sydney Palazzolo led HPU with 17 kills while
Dylan Maberry finished with 16 winners.
Ally Van Eekeren dished out 40 of the Panthers' 50 assists.

The Panthers used a 9-0 run in the first set to take a commanding 14-4 lead with kills from Maberry,
Kathryn Wesolich, Palazzolo, and
Ally Van Eekeren while Palazzolo served three straight aces.
Maberry finished with four kills to lead High Point in the first set.
After SHU opened the second set with a 5-1 lead, the Panthers used a 7-1 run with two
Sophee Mink kills to take back the 10-8 lead.
High Point continued pushing the lead to take a 20-13 advantage late in the set, but the Pioneers pulled back within 21-18. HPU scored four of the final six points to take the second set and a 2-0 lead.
After trading leads and ties in the third set, SHU picked up the 25-21 set three win.
Seven Panthers had kills in the fourth and final set to pick up the 25-18 set win and 3-1 match win.
