KENNESAW, Ga. – The High Point University volleyball team scored a 3-1 win over Furman before falling in three sets to Kennesaw State.
Dylan Maberry all Panthers against the paladins with 17 kills as HPU finished the first match hitting .315.
GAME 1

High Point got out to a slow start in the first set, trailing the Paladins 10-3 before three Furman errors along with a
Gabby Idlebird kill and an Idlebird and
Ally Van Eekeren block brought the Panthers back, 10-8.

HPU used a late 5-0 run off of a
Kathryn Wesolich kill and two
Jillian Ziemba aces to take the 20-17 lead and finished the set on a 5-2 run with two kills from
Sydney Palazzolo.
The Panthers took a quick 10-2 lead in set two as Maberry fired off five kills in a row, along with kills from
Sopheea Mink and Wesolich before the two teamed up for a block.
High Point continued to push the lead to 16-5 behind two more blocks.
Five out of the last six points for the Panthers came off of kills from Idlebird,
Megan Kratzer,
Lucy Dumford, and
Maggie Salley as HPU picked up the 25-15 win.
Neither side led by more than three points in a tight third set, as the Panthers and the Paladins continued to trade points back and forth. Mink had four kills in the set, but HPU would drop the frame, 26-24.
HPU opened the fourth set on a 4-0 run and continued to push to a 7-3 lead behind four kills from Maberry.
As Furman crawled back to make it a 9-8 set, kills from Palazzolo and Maberry pushed the Panther lead back to four.
Maberry continued to show as the hot hand for the Purple and White in set four, with three more kills and a service ace before Palazzolo put away six kills.

After starting the match with back-and-forth scoring, KSU opened a 9-0 run to take the 15-6 lead in the first set. Four Panthers had kills to balance the attack in the first set.
High Point battled closer in the second set taking a 9-7 lead, but the Owls used a 6-0 run to take back the 13-7 lead and kept HPU at a safe distance.
In a third set that featured six lead changes and 14 ties, the Panthers held the 18-17 advantage late, but KSU closed the match on an 8-2 run to hold on for the win.
Up Next: High Point travels to No. 6 Wisconsin on Sunday for a 2:00 p.m. first serve. The Panthers will also face No. 24 Marquette at 7:00 p.m. to finish out the weekend.
