AUSTIN, Texas -- The High Point University volleyball team dropped a three-set match to No. 1 Texas in Austin on Friday night.
Sydney Palazzolo led the Panthers with nine kills while
Maria Miggins added eight.
Jenny Wessling led the defense with 13 digs.Â

The Longhorns opened up the match with a 9-2 run before
Ally Van Eekeren landed a kill to end the run.Â
Sydney Palazzolo tallied a kill midway through the first set as Van Eekeren notched three-straight winners to pull the Panthers within 16-12.Â
The Longhorns closed out the set on a 6-2 run to take the 25-16 set win.Â
HPU got within 8-7 in the second set with kills from Palazzolo and Miggins.Â
With the Longhorns leading 15-14, the home team went on a 10-4 run to take set two, 25-18.Â
High Point used kills from
Gabrielle Idlebird and Palazzolo along with a service ace from Miggins to take a 5-2 lead in set three.Â
Kills from Van Eekeren and Palazzolo added two more kills to hold the 7-4 lead. The Panthers used two Texas errors and a
Dylan Maberry kill to extend the lead, 10-5.Â
Texas used a 9-0 run to take back the 16-11 and closed the match on a 5-2 run to complete the sweep.Â
