High Point, N.C. – High Point women's soccer secured their first win of the season in a hard-fought battle against the Richmond Spiders Sunday. This marks the first win in the Coach McGuinness era.Â
Â
The Panthers dominated the first half offensively. Sophomore Lindsey DeHaven and freshman Leah Malone both netted their first goals of the season in the 21st and 40th minute.
Â
Â
With just 11 minutes remaining in the match, freshman Axelle Touzeau made a beautiful pass to sophomore Emily Mashinski for a third Panther goal.
Â
After a well-deserved gatorade shower following his first win as head coach, Coach McGuinness made it clear how proud he was of his team for their ability to keep fighting hard even when things were not going in their favor.Â
He stated, "This win means a lot, not only to me, but to this group of players. They have worked extremely hard these past few weeks to fight through adversity".Â
Up Next: The Panthers travel to NC State to face the Wolfpack Thursday, September 15th. Kickoff is set for 6:00 PM.Â
