High Point faced the Eagles of American University on Sunday. They started the match with an early lead in the 10^th minute as Sam Gerhart's goal put the Panthers up 1-0. American responded just minutes later to tie up the game at one goal apiece leading into the second half. Neither teams scored in the second half and the game ended in a draw. Gerhart has now had a point in every contest for the Panthers thus far.

High Point vs. ECU
Thursday's match marks the seventh time the Panthers will face the Pirates, with their last win dating back to 2013.
 
About The Pirates
ECU is 0-2 to start out their season, losing their last two matches to South Carolina and Duke. In their exhibition games, the Pirates tied Longwood 1-1 and fell to Liberty 0-2.
 
The McGuiness Era
2022 marks the first season for head coach Aaron McGuiness and his two assistants, Kate Ward and Tori Collar. McGuiness comes to HPU after spending five seasons as an assistant at Virginia Commonwealth University.

After defeating Campbell in the Big South Tournament Championship, the HPU women's soccer team advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in five years. The Panthers faced No. 1 Virginia in the first round.

HPU was picked second in the Big South Preseason Coaches' poll behind 2021 tournament runner-up, Campbell. The Panthers received three first-place votes in the poll behind the Camels' seven.
