Head Coach Aaron McGuiness: "I thought we controlled much of the game. They created chances on the counterattack, but we needed to defend the corner better and be more aggressive in clearing the ball before they could get a touch. Our response showed why the game lasts 90 minutes — we didn't have to score immediately. Fighting to the end and finding a way to get the result showed the character we'll need in the postseason."
HPU honored six seniors before the Senior Day match:
Kylee Williams,
Thea Oberhoff,
Amelia Courbron,
Brooke Potter,
Kari Powell, and
Nylah Mirshafiei.
The Panthers scored twice in the final two minutes, with
Chloe Edwards delivering the equalizer before
Morgan Wilcox netted the winner. Edwards tied the game with a powerful shot into the upper-right corner.
With seven seconds remaining, Wilcox buried a rebound in the lower-right corner for the game-winner. A Winthrop foul set up Oberhoff's free kick, which deflected off Courbron to Wilcox.
High Point outshot Winthrop 8-4 in the first half, including a 3-2 edge in shots on goal. The Eagles scored in the 17th minute and held a 1-0 halftime lead despite HPU's offensive pressure.
Sabba Haghgoo,
Kyah Montano,
Coryn McDonnell,

Abbie Zubrzycki, and
Aleena Ulke each put shots on goal for High Point.
In the net, Mirshafiei played all 90 minutes and made one save.
