HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University baseball dropped two games on the opening day of the 2022 Ingles Big South Championship, eliminating them from the tournament. The Panthers season comes to an end with an overall record of 23-33.

Game 1
The Panthers dropped the opening game on the 2022 Ingles Big South Tournament by a score of 14-3 to Charleston Southern in their first meeting of the season.
Peyton Carr led the way for HPU, going two for four with one RBI.
Griffyn Shelton and
Dylan Decker both came in as relievers and surrendered just one hit a piece. Shelton pitched 1.1 innings recording one strikeout, while Decker pitched one inning without giving up a hit.
HPU was able to get on the board with a three run seventh inning.
Jackson Melton started the rally with an RBI single.
Javon Fields and
Peyton Carr also drove in a run a piece for the Panthers.
Game 2
Fields led the way for the Panthers in the second game going two for four, with two doubles and one RBI.
UNC Asheville was on the board first as they posted a run in the fourth and fifth inning, but the Panthers responded in the sixth inning and tied the game at two, taking advantage of the UNC Asheville miscues.
Fields gave the Panthers a 3-2 lead with an RBI double.
Carter Sheppard had a solid day on the mound recording four strikeouts in five innings of work.
The Bulldogs added three in the sixth inning to take a 5-3 lead.
UNC Asheville added one more in the seventh inning and went on to win 6-3.
The first year of the Hammond Era comes to a close as HPU ends the season with an overall record of 23-33.
